The Cyprus government published Decree No. 27 enabling employees to take a full day of paid leave to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus during their working hours.
The new regulation entered into effect upon its publication in the official gazette on 5 July 2021.
Key details
As the vaccination campaign accelerates, the Cyprus government introduced a Decree granting paid COVID-19 vaccination leave to encourage as many people as possible to be vaccinated.
The full-day vaccination leave applies to all employers and all employees for each required injection until employees are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Employees who are parents or guardians of a minor child are also allowed to take this day off to accompany their minor child for vaccination.
Employees will be required to provide their employer with evidence of their own vaccination appointment and that of their minor child.
