The Mexican National Commission on Minimum Wages has recently approved a significant increase to the national minimum wage. The new wage increase of 20% will be effective on 1 January 2023.
Key details
Beginning 1 January 2023, the national minimum wage will increase from MXN 172.87 to MXN 207.44 per day for workers located in Mexico. Workers located in the Free Economic Zone of the Northern Border will see a minimum wage increase from MXN 260 to MXN 312.

Employers should review their current pay arrangements and apply the wage increase to their employees from the first full pay period starting on or after the change is effective.
