The French government announced a three-year plan to require companies to erase their gender pay gaps or face possible fines. Under the plan, companies will be required to install special software that directly connects to their payroll systems to monitor unjustified pay gaps. Companies with 250 employees or more would be required to comply by 2019, while companies with 50 employees or more would have to comply by 2020. Failure to erase detected pay gaps would result in fines of up to 1 percent of payroll.
